Introduce Yourself – Hello, My name is Janet and I am the owner and creator of Jamcat Candles! I have worn a few hats in my life time, but making sure people are happy has been the core of all of my roles.
As a registered nurse caring for children, helping my patients and their families was paramount. Later as a medical device sales rep, supporting patients, physicians and other care givers was my focus. Now, moving into the candle making world, seeing the happiness that my candles provide, helps me to continue to feed that intrinsic need I have to make others happy!
Introduce Your Business – My business name is a meld of my own name: JAnet Mary CATherine. I have used that moniker for years, so it was easy to use for my business! Jamcat Candles came to life after I was married in 2017. After a year of planning the wedding and having my creative juices flowing, I felt deflated after the wedding when I didn’t have anything else to plan! I had learned a little about candle making from my cousin years ago, so I started my own research and became enamored with the concept and possibilities.
The focus of Jamcat Candles, LLC, is to provide customers with a candle that is out of the ordinary. They are boutique, hand crafted, natural soy candles that serve as an item of home décor. In a variety of shapes, sizes and scents, these distinctive candles provide a unique and personal sense of style, fashion and function. Jamcat Candles command attention for their external beauty, aromatic scent and healthy glow. I hand pour the candles in small batches and search high and low for unique vessels for my creations. I am currently up-cycling and repurposing glass ware to give the pieces new, beautiful life in the form of a candle!
What Do You Love Most About Being A Small Business Owner & Setting Up At Markets – I enjoy the challenge, sense of ownership, and flexibility being a small business owner provides. I have always taken pride in my endeavors and I am very proud of my little business! I enjoy participating in markets where I can engage with customers face to face, answer any questions they may have and help them find a candle scent and vessel they prefer. I also like helping to fulfill the customer’s needs, whether it is purchasing a candle as a gift for someone special, for themselves, or sometimes both!
